MAIN revives an open discussion space for Quebec's startup ecosystem
Published on December 5, 2024
Quebec's startup ecosystem is evolving, and it is more important than ever for its stakeholders to be able to communicate freely with each other, without intermediaries. MAIN will now administer the Slack space formerly supported by Quebec Tech, an open forum that brings together more than 3,000 members of the community.
Since its creation in 2019 by Bonjour Startup Montreal, this digital space has been a place for entrepreneurs, support professionals, mentors, experts, and other players in the ecosystem to exchange ideas, promoting knowledge sharing, collaboration, and meaningful connections.
This transfer of responsibility is part of the evolution of Startup Montréal's mandate towards Québec Tech. MAIN had already taken over some of Québec Tech's responsibilities for facilitating the ecosystem, including monthly information calls. It is therefore by mutual agreement and in a spirit of continuity that MAIN is taking over from Québec Tech for the administrative management of this collaborative space.
Key infrastructure for a dynamic ecosystem
By committing to preserving and enriching this open communication infrastructure, MAIN also aims to contribute to its sustainability and relevance. The goal is to make it even more useful and engaging for members by facilitating exchanges and ensuring that the information circulating in this space is connected to the right resources.
"The Slack space is much more than just a communication tool. It is a fundamental part of the infrastructure of Quebec's startup ecosystem. Direct communication between peers and unexpected collisions are among the factors that most contribute to giving entrepreneurs the courage to take risks. This space offers a simple and effective way for everyone to share essential information, find the right fit, and build strong relationships," says Louis-Félix Binette, Executive Director of MAIN.
What changes, what stays the same, and what you want to do with it
Starting today, MAIN will begin a discussion on how to use this collaborative space with a participatory and inclusive approach. We want to hear your needs and ideas so that we can continue to develop Slack in line with your expectations. Here are some of the initiatives we have planned:
- A participatory survey: Using the Polly tool in Slack, MAIN will solicit suggestions for the future space. Your ideas and projects will be essential in shaping a dynamic and useful community.
- Weekly resource sharing: Each week, we will highlight relevant events, opportunities, and tools.
- No specific visual identity: The identifier and logo have been updated to reflect this transition while maintaining Slack's accessibility and collaborative spirit.
If you have any questions or suggestions, you can also write to us at communications@mainqc.com.
Together, for an ever stronger community
Our job is to build infrastructure that makes our ecosystem more efficient and better connected. We are excited to help make this space a strategic lever for Quebec entrepreneurs and for the groups and organizations that support and mobilize them.
We invite you to join the space, share your ideas, and continue to build together an ecosystem where collaborations thrive.
