Startup talent barometer: why is access to talent such a challenge?
Published on October 26, 2022
All sectors of the economy are facing main shortages and difficulties in accessing skilled talent. The pandemic has only exacerbated this phenomenon, in addition to bringing about many upheavals in the world of work (career changes, resignations, democratization of teleworking or hybrid work). These changes contribute to the unpredictability of main movements and a great need for adaptation.
Startups are not immune, but how are they responding to these changes?
As part of this Startup Barometer, the Mouvement des accélérateurs d’innovation du Québec (MAIN) and Startup Montréal pooled their resources to identify and map talent issues as experienced specifically by Quebec startups.
The Startup Talent Barometer, produced in collaboration with Talsom and Ton équipier, confirms that Quebec startups are also facing main shortages and limited access to talent.
The report presents concrete data that identifies the main talent-related challenges in terms of attraction, hiring, and development for start-ups and offers promising avenues for reflection on how to revitalize the innovation sector in Quebec.
